I'm in celebratory mood right now :D After weeks of major procrastination, I finally finished my internship report in one day! damn, it feels GOOD! I came to work and started doing it right away. So instead of settling my office work, I use my time at the office to fully concentrate on doing my report. Like a boss! :DD I didn't even have lunch! well, that's obviously a lie coz I can't function right when I'm extra super hungry. I do have a very light lunch though. This was what I ate

That's 2 slices of toast and some guava. And they cost me only RM 1.60! cheapest lunch ever! I got a lot to smile for today. Alhamdulillah :D

P/s: I just had sushi for dinner. Please be envious ;D

Hashtag30FactsAboutMe

Everyone was doing #30FactsAboutMe on Twitter sometime ago and it's kind of a good idea in my opinion, coz you can share more about yourself. But I get a bit (just a teeny tiny wee bit) annoyed when my timeline gets flooded with tweets about this particular hashtag which results in 300+ unread twitter messages in my mobile phone. Oh, and another thing, 30 Facts About Me should not include "I got this verrry looong hair which is sooo straight and I'm lovin' it!" yeah, I get it, it's a fact that your hair is long. But isn't that obvious already? everyone who knows you knows you got long hair. The facts for me should be things that not many people know about you and when they read 'em, they'd be like "oh, she actually likes reading this genre of books" or " he's not all tough as he portrays himself to be" you know, something that actually tell people more about you. Not the obvious things. There's this one tweet I actually laughed out loud at in the not-so-private vicinity of my office cubicle.

"#30FactsAboutMe 19. I tweet using my Iphone" via Iphone   *facepalm*
Seriously bitch? obvious much? I don't wanna live in this planet anymore.

P/s: I might be doing my own #30FactsAboutMe someday. But I'd do it in this blog instead of Twitter. I don't have any intention to flood my followers timeline :)

Of silver lining, Da Vinci code, and birthday presents

I finished reading this book last night. It was great, a new perspective of Christianity and a whole new sense of gratitude to be born a Muslim. People who had read this would know what I mean. Personally, I prefer Stieg Larsson's flair of writing compared to Dan Brown's. Brown's style of storytelling is matter-of-factly and straight to the point, which would be most suitable if you're writing a history book or non-fictions. I've never been so engrossed in a crime fiction before until I came across Stieg Larsson's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I've read all three books from the trilogy and still remember all the details.

I know the covers don't look like much, but hey, never judge a book by its cover :) I guarantee you, the read is totally worth the money and time and lack of sleep. Read 'em only if you love crime fiction and don't mind reading about extreme violence. And if you support women rights, you'd be thrilled to read 'em.

Moving on, I was supposed to attend Avril Lavigne's concert tomorrow night with my girls. But I couldn't make it coz, well the usual. I got the green light from my mom but when it comes to my forever overprotective father, it's a moot point "No". The rebellious and defiant side of me wanted to just go and not give a damn. I could really use some fun time right now. I feel like I've been living alone. I don't even talk to anyone in my house. The old me would do that without thinking twice. But now that I promised myself to try and be a better daughter, I ought to obey my parents and be mature about it. Then maybe my dad would see me as a grown up. Plus, parents have this hunches or "sixth sense" that we as their children can never fathom until we become parents. They usually can sense whether it's safe or not to let go of their kids. So yeah, maybe there's some silver lining behind this cloud of gloom. So I sold my tickets to an officemate who looked beyond happy (she got the front ticket at a low price) and I can't help but feel happy too. Making others' day can be such an accomplishment.

I took a day off today (hehe) and I deserve it I must say. This week is super hectic and I feel pressured with all the multi-tasking I'm forced to do. I have to prepare a summary of all the insurance policy for all Sime Darby Subsidiaries to be submitted to Group Risk Management. Do you know how many Sime Darby subsidiaries here in Malaysia? Three fucking hundred! and I have to make sure all of those things is ready in four days. Damn, it feels good to take a day off :D I got a perfect present for my physic-crazy brother today :) Life's good, Alhamdulillah

the big two one

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to silly me...happy birthdayy toooo meeeee!! *clap**clap*

If my mom's home, she would treat me for all-i-can-eat dinner followed up by whatever-flavor-i-want cake. I'd be so damn full that I wouldn't even be sitting here, in front of my laptop, blogging my sorry ass off. Nah, I'm not that pathetic. I got my friends and my super marvelous bestfriends! So, even though my birthday isn't really special or whatever, I'm thankful nonetheless. God have given me some of the most precious gifts anyone in the world could have. I still have my parents, shelter, money for my needs, my family, my crazy girls (you know who you are bonts!), good health and well, just about everything.

I'm kind of having some mental block right now, which most probably because of this PMS thingy I'm having. Yeah, it sucks to have your first day of period on your birthday. So, this is one damn short entry.
Till next time, au revoir :)

A pinch of this, a taste of that

So, this is what I made for a light dinner. My dad just came back from sending mom to the airport. She got some seminars in Kota Bharu and won't be back until Friday. So there's only 3 of us left, my dad, me and my lil brother. My dad brought McDonald's for dinner (very exemplary, dad) but I'm not that hungry to eat a big mac (see, my dad thought I was a guy. Big mac, really??) so I decided to make a simple dish with some french bread. I actually not sure of what people call it. I just call it "roti panjang" which I used to hit my brother with. Hehe. So here's the easy-peasy recipe:
First, the ingredients
  • fresh tomatoes
  • 1/2 fresh onion
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic
  • 1 bunch fresh basil
  • 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • french bread (I seriously not sure what it's called. sorry)
I used 1 and a half tomatoes for a serving of 3. It's really up to you to put in as many or as less as you prefer. The same goes to the onion, garlic, basil, salt and pepper. As long as it tastes good, It's good to go :)

Here's the steps
1) Dice the tomatoes as small as you could. I'm not a good cook, so my tomatoes were a bit chunky
2) Finely chop the onion (make sure it's fine) and put 'em in the bowl together with the tomatoes
3) Chop the garlics (also make sure it's fine) and toss 'em into the bowl of deliciousness
4) Add some fresh basil to taste
5) Add in the extra virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper and mix the ingredients thoroughly. It is best to leave the   mixture in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to ensure the flavors really blend in (I'm starting to feel like a chef now ;P)
6) This is the part where you toast 'em bread. It's best to use an oven, but since mine broke down, I just used the toaster. As long as you toast it, any method would be fine.
7) Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the bread with olive oil. Then apply a thin layer (very2 thin layer, for those calorie conscious people out there) of sour cream onto the bread
8) Finally pile as much of the bruschetta as possible onto the bread and enjoy!

Ok, so I actually ended up with some leftovers (coz I only made 3 toasted bruschetta) so guess what? If you're a lazybum like me and don't want to go through anymore of those bread-cutting and toasting and brushing and all that, you can just eat 'em like that. Y'all know, make a damn salad.

There you go, healthy food to the max!

My Birthday is tomorrow ;)

I'm lovin' Angels instead

I'm missing my grandma :') It's been a while since my last visit to Terengganu and I miss my tokwan (my grandma) dearly. She's the angel who shed some light into my life. Her perspectives in life calms me down every time. She's turning 80 this year, and I can't help but wonder how I would cope when the time finally comes for her to go. I still remember when my to'ki (my grandpa) passed away. I was 8 years old and my mom was pregnant with my youngest brother, only 4 days away from labor. To'ki was staying in our house but he didn't look sick at all. I still remember the morning I was supposed to go to school but I didn't want to coz my grandparents were home and I wanted to stay with them. And how to'ki and tokwan coaxed me to go. For some reason I refused to hug to'ki because he didn't give me any tamarind sweets (gula2 asam jawa made in Terengganu). When I came home, mom told me he was admitted into National Heart Institute. And later that evening, my beloved to'ki passed away. No more tamarind sweets from him. Forever. I spent the night waiting around for the coffin, hoping I could get a glimpse of my late grandpa. My parents won't let me though, and I ran upstairs spending time on my own. I was overwhelmed with remorse and guilt. I refused to hug my late grandpa on his last day being alive. But I promised him, I promised myself I wouldn't let him down anymore. He always told me to "belajar pandai2, jaga mama baba, jaga adik2, hormat org tua, jadi org baik. x baik x dpt gula2 asam." I'm trying my best, to'ki. I miss you loads. And your gula2 asam :) Yes, he's the reason behind my love for asam, jeruk and all sour things.

My tokwan never gets mad at her grandchildren. There's 23 of us and 5 great-granchildren. She treated all of us like her own child, fussing around us up and down. Did we have enough food? How's our study? How's life? Did we have boyfriend/girlfriend? And her cooking is the best ever. I personally love the sambal belacan she made. Something so simple, yet so full of love (this sounds corny, I know). And her ikan bakar, no one can top that! She's always calm and collected, one of the reason why I feel so at ease with her. Me, being a rebel since I was a kid, often seek solace in the company of tokwan. When my parents were mad at me, she would talk to me nicely without nagging or showing signs of disapproval. I just love my tokwan, she got so much love. And this song, Angel sang by Robbie William (I'm not a big fan of Jessica Simpson's version, hurt my ears xP) is very fitting and never fails to remind me of my grandparents love.

"And through it all, she offers me protection. A lot of love and affection, whether I'm right or wrong" Robbie Williams - Angel

TGIF!! :)

I caught myself smiling all day when it's Friday...mostly because it's the last working day and I get to wake up late the next morning! aaaaand I get to have lunch with my brother (sister) from another mother! She's none other thaaan...
Glitter Words
Haha...I know you hate the name "adawiyah" and that's exactly why I put it instead of Irwansyah! Love you long time babe :)

Anyway, work is great! I'm starting to get the hang of things (after two months? brain, Y U NO Wake Up?!) and I feel damn good after submitting a work which I know I've made great effort to finish and actually understands. My colleague *cough* superior *cough* actually congratulated me! Although it was only through e-mail, but I feel appreciated. And she smiled at me all day (which is super weird, coz she's one of those I'm-a-go-getter-and-super-serious-I-demand-you-to-do-this-and-that-and-fix-this-mess kind of people) It feels great coming from someone who is very committed to their work. I would never forget this :)

Okay, so here's the thing that spoiled my mood a little bit. juuuust a little teeny tiny bit, since I'm too tired and sleepy to care.

This is the coffee table in front of the tv in the living area upstairs. And that's my room's door. Yesterday there was nothing on that table. My house is turning into a bachelor's pad and I hate it. Brothers can be such a pain in the neck when it comes to cleaning up. And I got 3. Just you wait, I'mma wake up at 8 tomorrow and go switch on all the freakin lights in your rooms, switch off the fans and airconds and knock on the doors so hard until you can sleep no more! That's all I can do for revenge though. Still, that's better than nothing ;D

Mila Kunis Mila Kunis Mila Kunis

"You know the days when you wanted to choose to not get out of bed, You're lost in your head again..."  Foster The People - Helena Beat
And this is definitely the day. Thank god it's February 1st. It's Federal Territory Day here in Malaysia! yay! NO FRIGGIN WORK! i woke up at 9 though. Still quite early.

So I had some pizza from Dominos (pizza for breakfast? i know i'm awesome) without the guilt of getting fat or whatever shits cuz i'm legendary like that xP and these thoughts and realizations dawned on me. I got a friggin 1 month more or less to complete my internship report and presentation. Oh My Gucci Prada Fendi Fossil and-whatever-high-end-brands-out-there! I haven't done a single thang! Not even the company background (which is confusing than ever, because Sime Darby have at the very least 300 subsidiaries and my job scope is damn big, like I learn everything but not in depth) So yeah, most of my friends got their projects and whatnot. I don't. Simple as that and I'm freaking out. What am I supposed to be presenting and reporting? And my Internship supervisor is coming on Friday. I hope he could brief us what we should have in the reports and presentation. I guess I should go and do some research or whatever for the company background. OR I could watch Friends with Benefits! You know, the ones with Justin Timberlake and the ever smokin' hot Mila Kunis (damn, I love her eyes). Procrastination is my middle name  ;)

I'mma make myself some warm green tea (with 1 tablespoon of sugar) and super yummy banana split with vanilla ice-cream and fruit sorbet I just bought then watch Friends with Benefits and droolin' over Mila Kunis! Life is perfect :)
